Celebrating Pokonut’s Journey On Its Second Anniversary
The story of Pokonut depicts the journey of a mother who turned into a passionate entrepreneur. This fruitful journey began 8 years ago when my elder son was born. As a new mom, I was naturally skeptical and cautious about my little one’s skin. Despite conducting a plethora of research and selecting baby products from well-known brands, he started developing some severely painful skin problems. As a parent, it was heartbreaking to see our baby suffer, and we left no stone unturned to ensure the best for our son but to no avail.
Around that time, my grandma recommended some herbal remedies to resolve his skin problems. However, we were a bit skeptical about any further experiments as our son was already struggling with rashes all over his skin. Forced to choose between traditional herbal formulas and branded foreign products, we finally opted for my grandma’s remedies. In hindsight, that was probably the best decision we ever made as parents. It turned out to be miraculous for my child.
Being born and brought up around the Himalayan range, my grandma possessed profound knowledge about a plethora of herbs and their medical values. She inherited the rich wisdom of traditional herbs from her father who used to be a renowned ayurvedic practitioner. Her wisdom did not just resolve my baby’s skin issues but solved my skin concerns as well.
Taking inspiration from our personal experience, we decided to utilize the goodness of rich Ayurvedic formulas as a reliable and effective solution for all parents out there who might be going through a similar experience. Driven by genuine passion and concern, we first offered the herbal solution to our family and friends and they all loved it. However, when we stepped forward to reach a broader audience is when we faced the first major hurdle.
Despite being affordable and effective, traditional herbal formulas were somehow deemed unsuitable for modern-day lifestyles, bringing down their effectiveness in mainstream skincare regimens. Winning the trust of parents, who prioritized the well-being of their child over everything else, was not an easy task. We came to a realization that the need of the hour was to contemporise the richness of Ayurveda with the blessings of modern science. Thanks to my husband, who had expertise in pharmaceuticals through more than a decade of professional experience, we decided to take on the challenge. We took a step forward towards overcoming these limitations posed by traditional herbal products.
Four years of restless research and efforts came into being with Ponkonut’s official inauguration in 2022. With a combined experience of more than 20 years, we set out on this incredible journey that would not only help so many parents across the country but also would win the trust of thousands of mothers. When we started this journey, we were just two concerned parents working out of a home lab.
Our journey since has seen Pokonut become the most reliable ayurvedic skincare brand in India. Although Pokonut started its journey with a baby skincare range, it has widened its offerings to moms and hair care regimes over this period. One little step can create a big impact and we firmly believe it. What began from as little as Rs. 10,000 in monthly revenue has today reached a monthly turnover of more than Rs 1 Crore. It took us 24 long months, and throughout this journey, we have counted on your valuable trust to serve as our motivation.
Our goal isn’t just limited to making motherhood better for our customers, but also to make the world we live in a better place. We firmly believe in giving back to the society we live in, and a significant portion of our revenue goes towards social welfare programmes including plantations and girl child education, because we believe in sharing goodness in every possible way.
“Nurtured with love” is the motto that Pokonut is dedicated to keep up with with approaching times. It has been 2 years since we started with around 10 customers. Today, we are celebrating the love and trust of over 1 lakh customers who are also valued members of the Pokonut family. It would never have been possible to come this far on our journey without the trust of our customers. We are heartily thankful to every single mother who has put her faith in Pokonut and enriched our journey. We look forward to serving you better with each passing year, and making motherhood the most beautiful experience for you, as it deserves to be.
